I have connected with Jose German-Gomez of Northeast Earth Coalition who has established a number of community gardens around the area. He is happy to have MtcMA volunteers to help with the Montclair locations:
Mt. Carmel Church on Pine Street,
Crane Park at the intersection of Glenridge Ave. and Lackawanna Plaza,
and at the First Congregational Church on S. Fullerton Ave.
All the produce grown is donated to Toni’s Kitchen to be cooked, served, or added to the grocery bags that are distributed around to folks in need.
OUR FIRST DAY will be MONDAY, MARCH 14, at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Pine Street. We will be pulling out the old, dead plants from last year, and get the beds ready for the new plantings. We will move on to Crane Park and First Cong. Church to do some work there, too.
There’s nothing like planting a seed and seeing a large plant with food on it a couple of months later! If you have any questions, please ask!
