Employment mutual aid

You’re invited to help start this new project!

The job market has changed. Pandemic upheavals have made everyone’s work less secure. Safety net programs are weakened and unreliable. Labor protections are diminished.

Mutual aid networks can help. People can assist one another with job-seeking skills, with job opportunity referrals, and with local services exchange.

Montclair Mutual Aid is launching a group for people wanting to help one another with employment and work issues. Whether you’re a job seeker, an employment skills master, a coop economy geek, or just interested, you’re invited to our first discussion, to help organize the group.

Topics may include:

• What are the critical job-related needs for you and for other people in the Montclair area?
• How can we find out and assess those needs?
• What types of help would make a difference in people’s job seeking and employment?
• Is there interest in free workshops or guidance on resume prep, interview prep, networking, etc.?
• What recent experiences have you had in the job market? Do you have any tips on what succeeded, and what didn’t?
• Can we plan and set an initial direction for this group? Future activities, events, discussions, etc.?
• And are there other ideas of interest to group participants?
